Define: Me

November 4, 2016
We have started a new lesson series called, "Define: Me."  Google is a great tool!  In fact, you can all but throw away a dictionary because all you have to do is go to google and type define and then the word you want the definition for and BAM! up pops the definition.  But it's not that simple when we are talking about what defines us. Google can't give us that answer.  There really are only two places we can get that definition from: the world or the Word.

The world TRIES to give us the answer, and we run around like a dog chasing it's own tail trying to keep up with what the world says defines us-- this week! But the definition is always changing. It offers us a definition that is mired in social status, wealth, popularity, position, appearance, skill, etc.

The Word gives us an answer based off of how God defines us, how He sees us.  And this definition hasn't changed- ever!  God sees us as His creation, His workmanship, His children! That isn't dependent upon any social status or position the world can offer, no certain appearance or skill is required. All that is required is that we ACCEPT Him and obey.

Over the course of this series, we will be looking at how God defines us. And we will be encouraging our students to choose His definition over the world's definition.  To pursue the Word- not the world!

Where do YOU get your definition from?

Overview of the Series:
Week 1- Define: Me
Week 2- You are Called ("Born this way -- Called to more!")
Week 3- You are Redeemed/Saved
Week 4- You are Unique/Created
Week 5- You are Loved

We hope you come join us

To Save A Life-- Week 4 & 5

October 5, 2016
The TSAL series has been one of my favorite in a long while.  That mainly lies in the activities that it asks the students to participate in.  In week 4 for example, we had two of my favorite activities.  First we had a group scavenger/activity hunt. Each group was given a list of 25 items that they had to complete and get signed off by witnesses.  These ranged from playing leap frog to tackling a male adult leader (on Sunday night with the High School students, I just happened to be the ONLY...

To Save A Life- Week 3

September 23, 2016

This week's lesson titled, "Say Something...Do Something," focused on our responsibility as believers to step up and do something!  The question was asked, "What does it matter what you SAY you believe if your ACTIONS don't back it up?"  That question was the catalyst for the majority of our conversation this week.  In James 2 we are told that faith without works is dead.  Not that works save us, because ONLY Jesus can do that, but that if all we have is words and no action, then we have dead...

To Save A Life- Week 2

"To Save A Life" Week 2

This week's message was that we are not alone.  That seems like a really simple message, but for many of us it's really a hard truth to grasp.  See, way too many times we get ourselves caught up in something and are convinced that we are the ONLY ONES going through it. I don't know what it is for you-- maybe its a particular bad habit or maybe it's some kind of struggle in your family-- but we are often convinced that we are the only ones dealing with it.  This lie keep...

To Save A Life- Week 1

September 14, 2016

Our first lesson series this Fall, "To Save A Life," is based off of the 2010 movie by the same name.  This movie, written by a veteran Youth Minister, attempts to address just about every topic that teens are faced with at school and in their personal life.  The catalyst of the movie is the suicide of a young man who felt like he didn't matter to anyone.  This sets off a series of events and decisions in the life of the main character and those he interacts with.  In addition to suicide, som...

Fall Kickoff 2016

August 30, 2016

"Ancient Olympics" was the theme of our Fall Kickoff this year!  With the Summer Games taking place in Rio, we thought we'd give a shot at our own competition style game extravaganza! Shortly after students arrived, they were grouped into Countries.  Each country was tasked with coming up with a name and a flag.  They were each given materials to make their flag and a list of the events they could compete in.  Once looking over the events, each country selected participants for each...

Summer 2016 Recap

August 3, 2016

This summer has been AMAZING!  We have traveled all over the place-- making memories, building relationships, and growing in our faith!  This is just a quick snapshot of our summer!

Poolside Chat:
Mrs Janet Smith opened her home TWICE to us this summer for Poolside Chat!  The first one had 31 students, and the second had 25 students!  That's ALOT of teenagers to allow to raid your home and enjoy your pool!  We cannot begin to thank Mrs Janet enough for hosting our crazy pool parties this year!

Joint Game Night!

November 26, 2013
This past Sunday night, our Middle School and High School ministries joined together for an awesome night of games and fellowship!  We love having our specific ministries, and are blessed to be able to minister more specifically by having separate times together-- but it is also a HUGE blessing to have our students fellowshipping and playing together!

We had 27 students come join us!  We even let a graduate from last year come and join us for the night!  The adults and students had a great tim...

Operation Christmas Child

November 26, 2013
Did you get the chance to join us for the Student Workday this past Sunday at First Christian Church in Leesburg?  We were there to help with the collection of boxes for Operation Christmas Child.  Check out the link for more information on the organization and what our help was making possible.  We had 11 students three adults, and two Jr Sponsors take part in this Workday.

The goal was to help them collect and sort boxes for the ministry.  Unfortunately, the time we were there was not filled...
